Advocating for Our Future
SEPTA is an organization that provides parents and educators with a support network to advocating, educating and empowering with knowledge necessary to ensure that our children receive the appropriate services and programs.
Yorktown SEPTA is a charter member of the National PTA and was organized to provide parents, as well as the teachers working with children that have special needs, the opportunity to network and advocate for their children within a supportive environment.
Special needs as viewed by SEPTA is broadly defined term that can range from those children who are classified as special needs by our district, and also those students who may have social, behavioral or other challenges that are know only to their families. SEPTA is here to provide guidance, education, support network, and a voice for these students, as well as their parents and teachers.

The purposes of the PTA, in common with those of the National PTA and the New York State PTA, are:
a) To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship;
b) To raise the standards of home life;
c) To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth;
d) To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth;
e) To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
